 I’m pleased to write a letter of reference for Andrea Hurley, who recently led our organization through a four-month process of conceiving, designing, and building a new website. Our old site was visually dated and no longer user-friendly, so we needed to start fresh with our conception for the site. Andrea helped us see that this was a great opportunity to engage in exploration about our work and the ideas and values that we want to communicate to the pubic. She excelled at leading our discussions during this discovery phase of the process, encouraging open exploration but also keeping us on track. Her initial visual designs for the site were attractive, lively, and inviting, and captured the synthesis of heart and mind that we aspire to in our work. During the critical site architecture design phase, Andrea was adept at brainstorming with our web team and guiding us toward a good, logical, and intuitive structure for the site. During the actual building of the site, Andrea was an excellent and creative collaborator. I can honestly say that I never feared we wouldn’t find a solution for any of the issues that naturally arose during the complex process of getting the site ready to launch. We did a lot of the content loading and page building ourselves, and Andrea helped us learn Contribute, so we will be able to maintain the site in house. Now that the site is up and running, my feeling is that it turned out even better than I had hoped. We selected Andrea because of her track record working with nonprofits and a variety of creative people in the Boston area. We feel fortunate we found someone who really understood our mission and work on a deep level, while also bringing the technical expertise to help us realize our goals.

Despite their rave reviews and, after working with consultants in various capacities for the last 20 years, I was skeptical that any web designer could deliver what we needed and wanted. To my delight, our expectations were not only met, but were greatly exceeded.
In our initial meetings, Andrea set the stage for what the website process would involve so that going forward we were always clear, well informed and included every step of the way. Our participation was encouraged during the entire process and she opened our eyes to even greater possibilities of what we originally imagined! At the end of the project, we spent 2 days in training with Elytra Design so that our staff (with no html experience) could take over the maintenance. We continue to use Elytra for big changes and consulting, but are now fully competent to maintain our site, continuing to learn and enjoying it!
Andrea is an absolute pleasure to work with. Her skills, abilities and guidance made our role in the redesign process seem so easy -- she was a wonderful coach to our inexperienced web team. I always looked forward to working with her, not only because of her warm and inspiring personality, but also because she could – and did – accomplish everything we hoped for!
