I don’t think there is a lot of controversy about whether or not it is a good idea for a business to have a blog. In our modern digital world, blogging is considered to be a signifiant asset to your business. By bringing new and more keyword rich content to your website, you organically increase your page rankings in search engines like Google. So of course it’s a good idea to have a blog. Who would not want to improve business by having higher rankings in the search engines? Silly question, I know. But when the rubber hits the road and it’s time to sit at the keyboard, you just might find that your blog doesn’t pour out of you as easily as you hoped or imagined. Like me, you might discover that blogging is kind of like having a kid. It requires lots of time, attention and loving care if you want your essence, intelligence and unique characteristics to jump off the page and be appreciated by your audience.
That’s our experience at Elytra Design. As a web design and development agency, we’ve been courting the idea of blogging for a couple years now. Being in the business for 15 years, we have plenty to say, and having built over 100 websites, we have lots to show. We’ve even guided and trained a few of our own clients through the process of blogging for their own businesses. Further, we believe in walking our talk and leading by example. So what has taken us so long? What's been in our way? Until recently, the answer seemed simple. It seemed there was just never enough time. Busy building websites for everyone else, we just didn't seem to have time blog.
